Cool shot! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a …. What is this kind of bridge called? I can’t think of the word! Anyway, I’ve never seen one open like this.

It’s a single leaf bascule bridge, which is just a fancy way of saying it’s a drawbridge with only one section that raises instead of two. It looks a bit unusual because the counterweight is above rather than below the bridge deck like most others in the area.

Drawbridge! Holy cow, how could I not remember such an obvious word? It is a very unusual-looking bridge. I really like the angle you captured it from.
